Cruise Control: Description and Operation

SPEED CONTROL

The speed control system consists of the following components:
- speed control switches
- speed control indicator
- powertrain control module (PCM)
- electronically controlled throttle body
- clutch pedal position (CPP) switch or jumper
- stoplamp switch
- speed control deactivator switch (part of the master cylinder)

It is normal for the engine rpm to increase slightly and then drop off slowly when the clutch pedal is pressed during speed control operation.

For diesel speed control information, refer to Computers and Control Systems.
