Countershaft and Bearing

Special Tool(s)

Disassembly

1. Using the special tools, remove the front countershaft bearing.

2. Using the special tools, remove the rear countershaft bearing.

3. Inspect the countershaft and bearings for wear or damage. Install new components as necessary. Always install new bearings and cups as a set. Do not install one without the other.

4. CAUTION: To prevent damage, do not heat the countershaft middle bearing or the countershaft front bearing higher than 150°C (300°F) maximum.

New or original components should be heated in advance of the assembly procedure. Heating the specified components will ease the assembly process. Place the countershaft middle bearing and the countershaft front bearing into the Gear/Bearing Heater.
