Removal and Installation
WARNING:
- Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related component. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
- Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before repairing or disconnecting any of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved to prevent accidental spraying of fuel, causing personal injury or a fire hazard. Failure to follow these institutions may result in personal injury.
All fuel tanks
1. Remove the fuel tank.
2. Place the fuel tank on a suitable work surface.
Aft-of-axle tank
3. Remove the fuel level sensor nuts.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
4. Remove the fuel level sensor, fuel level sensor seal and O-ring seal. Discard the fuel level sensor seal and O-ring seal.
Midship fuel tank
5. Remove the fuel level sensor bolts.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
6. Remove the fuel level sensor and fuel level sensor seal. Discard the fuel level sensor seal.
All fuel tanks
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install a new fuel level sensor seal and O-ring seal for aft-of-axle tanks and a new fuel level sensor seal for midship tanks.
