ABS LIGHT ON CONCERN - 6.0L DIESEL

FORD:
2006 E-Series

ISSUE
Some 2006 E-Series vehicles equipped with a 6.0L DI engine may exhibit a ABS light on concern with the base brake system continuing to function normally.

ACTION
Use the following Service Procedures to check Ground G105 for a loose or broken connection.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Inspect Ground 105 attachment point on the front inner splash shield on the driver side of the engine compartment (2006 E-Series Wiring Diagram Page 151-5). The ground wire is attached to a stud on the head of a bolt. The stud or stud bolt head may break off cleanly from the end of the bolt leaving the ground wire loose with no obvious attachment point.

2. Remove the bolt or any remaining portion of the existing bolt if broken.

3. If the bolt has broken, locate the G100, G101 and G105 wire eyelet(s) and secure in the existing weld nut hole with a new fastener with corrosion resistant finish. Torque the bolt to 106 lb-in (12 N.m).

4. Clear ABS code and verify ABS Light does not return and if a problem still exits refer to Workshop Manual for normal diagnostics.
