Drum Brake System: Description and Operation

Drum Brake

The rear drum brake uses a pedal actuated rear wheel cylinder to move the rear brake shoes against the brake drum. After the initial setting, the rear drum brake adjustment is maintained through periodic parking brake operation. For initial setting, refer to Brake Shoe Adjustment.
