Removal
1. CAUTION:
- The steps included in the SJB removal and installation procedure are critical to restoring the vehicle security and tire pressure monitoring systems to normal operation. A new SJB is delivered in manufacturing mode with 6 pre-set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) related to the tire pressure monitoring system. The presence of these DTCs requires the installation procedures be followed in order to clear the DTCs and enable normal SJB operations.
- Prior to the removal of the SJB, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the diagnostic tool. This information must be downloaded to the new SJB after installation.
Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the transmission selector lever.
3. NOTE: Position the front wheels straight forward before removing the ignition key.
Remove the ignition key from the lock cylinder locking the steering wheel in place.
4. Remove the 2 upper instrument panel bolt covers and bolts.
5. Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts and the 2 instrument panel center braces
6. Position the RH door weather seal aside.
7. Remove the RH instrument panel side finish panel.
8. Loosen the RH instrument panel side mount bolts 13 mm (0.51 in).
9. Disconnect the accelerator pedal electrical connector.
10. Disconnect the harness locator at the front of the SJB.
11. Remove the 2 screws and the steering column cover panel.
12. CAUTION: Secure the steering wheel to prevent damage to the clock spring assembly.
Remove the shaft-to-steering column bolt and separate the steering column shaft from the steering column.
13. Remove the 2 bolts and position the parking brake release handle aside.
14. Remove the LH A-pillar trim panel.
15. Remove the LH cowl side trim panel.
16. Position the LH door weather seal aside.
17. Remove the LH instrument panel side finish panel.
18. CAUTION: The bulkhead electrical connector is lever assisted. Do not damage the lever when releasing the electrical connector.
Disconnect the LH instrument panel bulkhead connector.
19. Remove the driver side vent assembly.
20. Remove the headlamp switch assembly.
21. Remove the 3 SJB mount screws and release the SJB from its locators.
22. Remove the 2 LH instrument panel side mount bolts.
23. CAUTION: The SJB electrical connectors are lever assisted. Do not damage the lever when releasing the electrical connectors.
Disconnect the 5 SJB electrical connectors and remove the SJB.
- Disconnect the remote keyless entry (RKE) antenna.
Installation
NOTE: When a new SJB is installed, all customer RKE transmitters are required to program the RKE function of the SJB
1. CAUTION: The SJB electrical connectors are lever assisted. Do not damage the lever when engaging the electrical connectors.
Connect the 5 SJB electrical connectors and the RKE antenna connector.
2. Position the SJB in the locators and install the 3 SJB mount screws.
3. Reposition the instrument panel with the cowl and install the 2 LH instrument panel side mount bolts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
4. Install the headlamp switch assembly.
5. Install the driver side vent assembly.
6. CAUTION: The bulkhead electrical connector is lever assisted. Do not damage the lever when engaging the electrical connector.
Connect the LH instrument panel bulkhead connector.
7. Install the LH instrument panel side finish panel.
8. Install the LH door weather seal.
9. Install the LH cowl side trim panel.
10. Install the LH A-pillar trim panel.
11. Position the parking brake release handle and install the 2 parking brake release handle bolts.
12. Position the steering shaft onto the steering column shaft and install the bolt.
- Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
13. Position the steering column cover panel and Install the 2 screws.
14. Connect the harness locator at the front of the SJB.
15. Connect the accelerator pedal electrical connector.
16. Install the RH instrument panel side mount bolts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
17. Install the RH instrument panel side finish panel.
18. Install the RH door weather seal.
19. Position the 2 instrument panel center braces and install the 4 bolts, 4 nuts.

20. Install the 2 upper instrument panel bolts and the 2 bolt covers.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
21. Install the transmission selector lever.
22. Install the floor console.
23. Connect the battery.
24. NOTE: When successful, this step provides the calibration necessary for SJB operation and clears DTC B2477. The clearing of the DTC indicates the calibration data has been successfully downloaded to the SJB.
Download the SJB configuration information from the diagnostic tool to the SJB.
25. NOTE: When successful, this step clears DTCs B2868, B2869, B2870 and B2871. The clearing of these DTCs indicates the SJB has recognized the tire pressure sensors during the training procedure.
Train the tire pressure sensors.
26. Clear the DTCs.
27. NOTE: This step is required to clear DTC C2780, cause the SJB to exit the manufacturing mode, and to be sure there are no other concerns with the newly programmed SJB.
Carry out the SJB on-demand self-test.
28. CAUTION: If the module configuration upload/download is successful, then the RKE transmitters do not need to be reprogrammed to the vehicle. However, if the module configuration upload/download is unsuccessful and as-built data must be used to configure the module, then ALL of the customer's RKE transmitters must be reprogrammed to the vehicle.
Program the RKE transmitters.
