Tests AE: No Communication With The Occupant Classification Sensor (OCS) Module
PINPOINT TEST AE: NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR (OCS) MODULEAE1:
AE1-AE2:
Normal Operation
The occupant classification sensor (OCS) module will communicate diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) to the diagnostic tool through the data link connector (DLC).
The diagnostic tool communicates via the HS-CAN with the OCS module through data link connector (DLC) C251 pins 6 and 14, circuits VDBO4 (WH/BU) and VDBO5 (WH).
NOTE: During normal operation, the air bag indicator will illuminate continuously for 6 seconds after the ignition switch is placed to the RUN or ON position. Be sure to cycle the ignition switch and look for a 6-second indicator prove-out without DTCs.
Possible Causes
A no communication fault with the OCS module can be caused by:
- damaged wiring, terminals or connectors.
- damaged ignition circuit.
- OCS module disconnected from the vehicle harness.
- a loss of OCS module ground.
- a faulted OCS module.
