Brake Switch (Cruise Control): Service and Repair

SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATOR SWITCH







Removal

1. WARNING: Brake fluid contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. If brake fluid contacts eyes, flush eyes with running water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If taken internally, drink water and induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

CAUTION:
- Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.
- Make sure the master cylinder reservoir cap is secure before performing this procedure.
- Do not allow any foreign matter to enter the master cylinder port once the deactivator switch is removed.


Disconnect the battery.

2. Remove the deactivator switch.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.

Installation







1. CAUTION: Do not allow brake fluid to contact the electrical connector.

Install the deactivator switch.
- Add a few drops of brake fluid to the fluid port on the threaded side of the switch before installing it.
- Tighten to 18 Nm (13 lb-ft).
- Connect the electrical connector.

2. Check the master cylinder fluid level and adjust as necessary.
3. Connect the battery.
