Shift Lever Cable and Bracket - TorqShift

Removal and Installation





1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Pull to release the retaining clips and remove the steering column opening lower finish panel.
3. Remove the steering column opening lower finish panel reinforcement.
1 Release the pin-type retainers and remove the electrical connector.
2 Remove the screw and data link connector.
3 Remove the bolts.
^ To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.)
4 Remove the steering column opening lower finish panel reinforcement.





4. NOTE: To prevent cable damage, do not apply force to the transmission selector lever cable assembly between the steering column shift tube bracket and the steering column bracket.

Disconnect the transmission selector lever cable from the steering column.
1 Disconnect the transmission selector lever cable from the steering column shift tube lever.
2 Carefully lift the locking tab and disconnect the transmission selector lever cable from the steering column bracket.





5. Disconnect the cable pushpin from the stud in the bulkhead.
6. Push the rubber grommet and transmission selector lever cable through the bulkhead.
7. Remove the selector lever cable.
1 Remove the transmission fluid filter bracket nut (early build).
2 Remove the transmission fluid filter bracket bolt and position the bracket aside (early build).
3 Disconnect the selector lever cable from the manual lever.
4 Disconnect the wire harness from the selector lever cable bracket.
5 Remove the bolts and position the selector lever cable and bracket aside.
^ To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 ft. lbs.)





8. NOTE: When installing the selector lever cable, make sure that the selector lever cable locking tabs are locked in place and the cable end is snapped onto the ball stud. Press the selector lever cable into the bracket and listen for the cable to click into place.

Pull back on the selector lever cable to make sure that it is locked into the bracket. Also, make sure that the selector lever cable end is correctly installed onto the ball stud. Pull back on the selector lever cable to make sure that the cable end is correctly installed.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Adjust the selector lever cable.
