Removal
CAUTION:
- Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
- To avoid damage to the steering column, be sure to lock the steering column before carrying out this procedure.
1. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
2. Remove the floor console.
3. Remove the engine cover.
- Release the engine cover latches and remove the engine cover.
4. Remove the instrument panel cowl top bolts.
5. Remove the upper center instrument panel access panel.
6. Disconnect the climate control vacuum harness connector.
7. Remove the LH upper access panel.
8. Remove the instrument panel cowl top nut.
9. Remove the RH instrument panel knee bolster.
- Remove the 4 bolts.
10. Remove the RH instrument panel dash brace.
1. Remove the 6 dash brace bolts.
2. Remove the RH instrument panel dash brace.
11. Remove the LH instrument panel knee bolster.
- Remove the 4 bolts and the 2 pushpin retainers.
12. Remove the LH instrument panel dash brace.
- Remove the data link connector bolt.
- Disconnect the data link connector.
- Remove the 6 LH instrument panel dash brace bolts.
- Remove the brace.
13. Remove the steering column pinch bolt.
14. Disconnect the steering column electrical connector.
15. Disconnect the transmission selector lever cable.
16. Disconnect the parking brake sensor electrical connector.
17. From under the hood, position the coolant reservoir aside.
1. Remove the bolts.
2. Position the coolant reservoir aside.
18. From inside the engine compartment, remove the main wiring assembly lower bulkhead connector.
1. Loosen the bulkhead connector bolt.
2. Disconnect the bulkhead connector clips.
3. Remove the bulkhead connector.
19. Remove the RH A-pillar lower trim panel.
20. Disconnect the RH instrument panel cowl side wiring electrical connectors.
21. Disconnect the antenna cable from the radio and release the cable locators from the instrument panel.
22. Remove the 3 RH instrument panel bolts.
23. Remove the 3 LH instrument panel bolts.
24. NOTE:
- Steering column removed for clarity.
- Removing the instrument panel from the vehicle requires an assistant.
Remove the instrument panel from the vehicle through the passenger side door.
Installation
CAUTION:
- Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage may result.
- To avoid damage to the instrument panel, it must be correctly seated before installing the instrument panel bolts.
NOTE: Verify that the 4-way locator tab on the LH side of the instrument panel is seated correctly.
1. Position the instrument panel on the LH dash locators and seat the panel.
NOTE: Install the LH and RH instrument panel bolts and make sure that the panel is correctly seated before tightening.
2. Install the 3 LH instrument panel bolts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
3. Install the 3 RH instrument panel bolts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
4. Engage the antenna cable locators into the instrument panel and connect it to the radio.
5. Connect the RH instrument panel cowl side wiring electrical connectors.
6. Install the RH A-pillar lower trim panel.
7. From inside the engine compartment, install the main wiring assembly lower bulkhead connector.
1. Position the bulkhead connector.
2. Secure the bulkhead connector clips.
3. Tighten the bolt to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
8. From under the hood, install the coolant reservoir.
1. Position the reservoir.
2. Install the 2 bolts and tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
9. Connect the parking brake sensor electrical connector.
10. Connect the transmission selector lever cable.
11. Connect the steering column electrical connector.
12. Install the steering column pinch bolt.
- Tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
13. Install the LH instrument panel dash brace.
- Position the brace.
- Install the 6 bolts.
- Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Position the data link connector and connect the electrical connector.
- Install the data link connector bolt.
14. Install the LH instrument panel knee bolster.
- Tighten the 4 bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Install the 2 pushpin retainers.
15. Install the RH instrument panel dash brace.
1. Position the instrument panel dash brace.
2. Install the 6 bolts and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
16. Install the RH instrument panel knee bolster.
- Tighten the 4 bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
17. Install the instrument panel cowl top nut.
- Tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb-ft).
18. Install the LH upper access panel.
19. Connect the climate control vacuum harness connector.
20. Install the upper center instrument panel access panel.
21. Install the instrument panel cowl top bolts.
- Tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in).
22. Install the engine cover.
- Position the engine cover in the vehicle and fasten the cover latches.
23. Install the floor console.
24. Re-power the supplemental restraint system (SRS).
