Material:

Removal
1. Remove the engine air cleaner (ACL) and the air cleaner outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove the 4 RH ignition coils. For additional information, refer to Ignition System.
4. Remove the oil fill tube support bracket bolt.

5. Disconnect the oil fill tube.

6. Disconnect the quick connect couplings and remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) tube. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

7. NOTE: Rotate the PCV valve counterclockwise to remove.

Remove the PCV valve from the valve cover.
8. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

9. Disconnect the electronic throttle body (TB) sensor electrical connector.

10. Disconnect the fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor electrical connector.

11. Disconnect the engine wiring harness connectors.

12. Disconnect the engine wiring harness connectors and remove the nut, ground strap and bracket.

13. Disconnect the radio ignition interference capacitor electrical connector.

14. Remove the 3 pushpin retainers and the splash shield.

15. Disconnect the A/C compressor and the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor electrical connector and remove the tie-strap.

16. Disconnect the fuel charging wiring harness retainers from the valve cover studs and position aside the wiring harness.

17. CAUTION: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to clean sealing surfaces.

Remove the RH valve cover.
^ Fully loosen the fasteners and remove the valve cover.
^ Clean the valve cover mating surface of the cylinder head with silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep. Follow the directions on the packaging.
^ Inspect the valve cover gasket. If the gasket is damaged, remove and discard the gasket. Clean the valve cover gasket groove with soap and water or a suitable solvent.

Installation
1. Apply instant gel adhesive completely around the gasket groove in the valve cover. Install the new valve cover gasket.

2. NOTE: If not secured within 4 minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with silicone gasket remover and metal surface prep. Follow the directions on the packaging. Allow to dry until there is no sign of wetness, or 4 minutes, whichever is longer. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.

Apply a bead of silicone gasket and sealant in 2 places where the engine front cover meets the cylinder head.

3. Position the valve cover on the cylinder head and loosely install the fasteners.
4. Tighten the fasteners in the sequence shown.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs).

5. Position the fuel charging wiring harness and connect the retainers to the valve cover studs.
6. Connect the A/C compressor and the CKP sensor electrical connectors. Install a tie-strap.

7. Position the splash shield and install the 3 pushpin retainers.

8. Connect the radio ignition interference capacitor electrical connector.

9. Install the bracket, ground strap and nut. Connect the electrical connectors to the bracket.
^ Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs).

10. Connect the engine wiring harness electrical connectors.

11. Connect the fuel rail pressure and temperature electrical connector.

12. Connect the electronic TB electrical connector.

13. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.

14. NOTE: Rotate the PCV valve clockwise to lock it in place.

Install the PCV valve, position the PCV tube and connect the quick connect couplings. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
15. Connect the oil fill tube.

16. Install the engine oil filler tube support bracket bolt.
^ Tighten to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs).

17. Install the 4 RH ignition coils. For additional information, refer to Ignition System.
18. Install the engine cover.
19. Install the air cleaner outlet pipe and the engine ACL. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
