Normal Operation
During normal operation, the air bag warning indicator will illuminate continuously for approximately 6 seconds and then go out after the ignition switch is placed in the ON or START position and no air bag faults exist. The air bag warning indicator will remain illuminated continuously after 3 cycles of a lamp fault code (LFC), if a fault exists.

If the restraints control module (RCM) detects an open or short to ground on the air bag warning indicator circuit, it will store diagnostic trouble code (DTC) B1869 in memory.

Possible Causes
An air bag warning indicator inoperative condition could be caused by:
- faulted wiring, terminals or connectors.
- a faulted RCM.
- an instrument cluster module internal concern.
