Test E: Incorrect Temperature Gauge Indication

PINPOINT TEST E: INCORRECT TEMPERATURE GAUGE INDICATION

E1:

E2-E5:

Normal Operation
The engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor (gasoline engines) or the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor (diesel engine) monitors the coolant temperature and is hardwired directly to the powertrain control module (PCM). The status of the engine coolant temperature is sent from the PCM to the instrument cluster over the communication network.

Possible Causes
- ECT sensor (gasoline engines)
- CHT sensor (diesel engine)
- PCM
- Instrument cluster
