Intake Manifold Assembly
Intake Manifold AssemblyMaterial:
Disassembly
1. Remove the 2 fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor support bracket bolts.
2. Remove the 4 fuel rail bolts.
^ Remove the fuel rail and injectors as an assembly.
3. Remove the fuel injectors from the fuel rail.
4. Remove and discard the O-ring seals from each fuel injector.
5. Separate the upper and lower intake manifolds.
^ Remove the bolts.
^ Discard the intake manifold gasket.
6. CAUTION: If the engine has been internally damaged and metal or other foreign material has entered the manifold, it is recommended the manifold be discarded.
Inspect all external and internal surfaces of the intake manifold.
^ Inspect for cracks or other damage.
^ Inspect for foreign material inside of the manifold.
^ Clean the intake manifold sealing surfaces.
Assembly
1. Position a new lower intake manifold gasket and the upper intake manifold on the lower intake manifold and loosely install the bolts.
2. Tighten the bolts in 2 stages, using the sequence shown.
^ Stage 1: Tighten to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs).
^ Stage 2: Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs).
3. NOTE: Lubricate the new O-ring seals with clean engine oil prior to installation.
Install new O-ring seals on each of the fuel injectors.
4. Assemble the fuel injectors onto the fuel rail and install the locking clips.
5. Install the fuel rail and fuel injector assembly onto the intake manifold.
6. Install the 4 fuel rail bolts.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs).
7. Install the 2 fuel rail pressure and temperature sensor support bracket bolts.
^ Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs).
