Expansion Valve: Service and Repair
THERMOSTATIC EXPANSION VALVERemoval and Installation
1. Remove the auxiliary evaporator core.
2. NOTE: Care must be taken not to damage the temperature sensing bulb or capillary tube.
Detach the temperature sensing bulb from the evaporator outlet tube.
1 Remove the A/C insulating tape and save for reuse.
2 Remove the clip and detach the temperature sensing bulb.
3. Remove the thermostatic expansion valve (TXV).
1 CAUTION: Use a wrench on each side of the fitting to prevent damage to the A/C fitting.
Disconnect the refrigerant lines.
2 Remove the TXV.
- Discard the O-ring seals.
4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Install new O-ring seals.
