THROTTLE BODYRemoval
WARNING: Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
CAUTION: The throttle body must be removed from the vehicle to be cleaned. Do not hold the throttle plate open with any object that could scratch the bore or plate while servicing or cleaning the throttle body.
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove the engine air cleaner assembly and the air cleaner outlet tube.
4. NOTE: The red clip must be pulled out before disconnecting the electrical connector.
Disconnect the electronic throttle control electrical connector.
5. NOTE: The red clip must be pulled out before disconnecting the electrical connector.
Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.
6. Remove the 4 bolts and the throttle body (TB).
- Remove and discard the TB gasket.
Installation
1. Install a new TB gasket. Install the TB and bolts. Tighten the bolts in 2 stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.
2. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.
- Push back the red clip.
3. Connect the electronic throttle control electrical connector.
- Push back the red clip.
4. Install the engine air cleaner assembly and the air cleaner outlet tube.
5. Install the engine cover.
6. Connect the battery ground cable.
