Steering Linkage Damper

Removal and Installation

1. Remove the steering linkage damper-to-bracket nut and bolt.
^ To install, tighten to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.)
2. Remove steering linkage damper-to-drag link bracket nut and then remove the damper.
^ To install, tighten to 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.)

3. NOTE: If installing a new steering linkage damper bracket, make sure the bracket is properly positioned on the sector shaft arm drag link before tightening the U-bolt nuts.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
4. Rotate the steering wheel from stop to stop. Verify that the steering linkage damper is not bottoming out and that the steering linkage reaches its full travel when the steering wheel is turned from stop to stop.
