Test X: The Charge Reconfigurable Telltale Indicator Is Never/Always On
PINPOINT TEST X: THE CHARGE RECONFIGURABLE TELLTALE INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ONX1-X5:
Normal Operation
The instrument cluster receives the charging system signal from the powertrain control module (PCM) over the high speed controller area network (HS-CAN) communication bus. If the charging system is functioning correctly once the engine is started, the PCM sends the instrument cluster a message to turn off the charge indicator. When a charging system concern is detected, the PCM sends a message to the instrument cluster to turn on the charge reconfigurable telltale indicator. If the charging system message is missing or if the data is deemed invalid by the instrument cluster for greater than 5 seconds, the instrument cluster sets DTC U0100 and defaults the charge reconfigurable telltale ON.
NOTE: If U0100 is set in the instrument cluster other symptoms may also be present such as an inoperative speedometer, tachometer or temperature gauge.
Possible Causes
- Charging system concern
- Instrument cluster
