Removal

WARNING: The electrical power to the air suspension system must be shut off prior to hoisting, jacking or towing an air suspension vehicle. This can be accomplished by turning off the air suspension switch located in the LH rear quarter trim panel. Failure to do so can result in unexpected inflation or deflation of the air springs, which can result in shifting of the vehicle during these operations. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

1. If equipped, turn the air suspension switch to the OFF position.

2. NOTE: To avoid damage or scratching to the center cap, place facing up when removed.

If equipped, remove the center cap.

3. CAUTION: Do not use heat to loosen a seized wheel nut. Heat can damage the wheel and wheel bearings.

With the weight of the vehicle on the wheels, loosen the wheel nuts.
4. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
5. Remove the wheel nuts and the wheel and tire assembly.

Installation

1. WARNING: Before a wheel is installed, always remove any corrosion, dirt or foreign material present on the mounting surfaces of the wheel or the surface of the wheel hub, brake drum or brake disc that contacts the wheel. Installing wheels without correct metal-to-metal contact at the wheel mounting surfaces can cause the wheel nuts to loosen and the wheel to come off while the vehicle is in motion, causing loss of control. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

WARNING: Retighten the wheel nuts at 160 km (100 miles) after any wheel change or any time the wheel nuts are loosened. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

WARNING: Failure to retighten wheel nuts at the mileage specified can allow wheels to come off while the vehicle is in motion, possibly causing loss of vehicle control and collision. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

Clean the wheel-to-wheel hub mounting surface(s).

2. CAUTION: Make sure to apply a thin coat of anti-seize lubricant only to the area of the wheel that contacts hub pilot surface. Do not allow the lubricant to make contact with the wheel studs, brake pads or brake disc.

Apply a thin coat of anti-seize lubricant to the wheel hub pilot surface.
3. Position the tire and wheel assembly and install the wheel nuts hand-tight, then lower the vehicle.

4. CAUTION: Failure to tighten the wheel nuts in a star pattern can result in high brake disc runout, which will speed up the development of brake roughness, shudder and vibration.

Tighten the wheel nuts, using the pattern indicated, to 204 Nm (150 lb-ft).

5. If removed, install the center cap.
6. If equipped, turn the air suspension switch to the ON position.
