External Controls

The transmission selector lever cable transfers the transmission operating mode from the selector lever to the automatic transmission. The indicated position of the transmission selector lever is transferred to the transmission through the steering column mounted selector lever on the 6R75 transmission, or the floor mounted selector lever on 6HP26 and 6R75 transmissions, then to the cable and down to the manual control lever on the transmission.

Shift Interlock System - Column
The shift interlock system prevents shifting from PARK unless the brake pedal is depressed. The shift interlock system consists of a shift interlock actuator mounted at the upper end of the steering column. If the ignition switch is in the RUN position, the shift interlock actuator is on unless the brake pedal is depressed.

Shift Interlock System - Floor
The shift interlock system prevents shifting from PARK unless the brake pedal is depressed. The shift interlock system consists of a shift interlock actuator mounted on the floor selector lever. If the ignition switch is in the RUN position, the shift lock actuator is on unless the brake pedal is depressed.

Transmission Control (TC) Switch
The transmission control (TC) switch is a momentary contact switch that is located on the end of the column selector lever or on the floor selector lever knob. Pushing the TC switch will either disengage or engage the overdrive function of the automatic transmission. If OVERDRIVE is disengaged, the word OD/OFF will illuminate on the instrument panel.
