Disassembly
NOTE: The low/reverse clutch plates are installed in the case during the assembly procedure.
1. Remove the roller bearing on the center support.
2. Using the special tool, remove the retaining ring.
3. Remove the low/reverse clutch return spring.
4. Remove the low/reverse clutch baffle plate retainers.
5. Remove the low/reverse clutch baffle plate and piston from the low/reverse clutch drum.
6. Separate the low/reverse clutch baffle plate from the piston.
7. Remove and discard the low/reverse clutch baffle plate outer O-ring seal.
8. Remove and discard the low/reverse inner piston O-ring seals.
9. Remove and discard the low/reverse drum O-ring seal.
Assembly
Low/reverse piston
1. Install a new low/reverse inner piston O-ring seals.
2. Install new low/reverse drum O-ring seal.
3. Install a new low/reverse clutch baffle plate outer O-ring seal.
4. Install the low/reverse clutch baffle plate in the low/reverse piston.
5. Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean automatic transmission fluid, and install the low/reverse piston.
6. Install the low/reverse clutch baffle plate retainers.
7. Install the low/reverse clutch return spring.
8. Using the special tool, install the retaining ring.
9. Install a new roller bearing on the center support.

10. NOTE: All intermediate clutch plates friction and steel are of a wave-type design.
Install the special tool into the case.
11. Install the special tool into the case as shown.
12. Measure case stop depth.
13. Measure the clutch pack height.
14. Measure the piston to center support shoulder height.
15. Calculate the end clearance.
Compare the end clearance to the specification. If the end clearance is out of specification, select the next thinner or thicker plate as required and repeat Steps 10, 11 and 12.
