Test P: The High Beam Indicator Is Never/Always On

PINPOINT TEST P: THE HIGH BEAM INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON

P1-P5:

P6:

Normal Operation
The instrument cluster receives the high beam status from the smart junction box (SJB) over the medium speed controller area network (MS-CAN) communication bus. When the high beams have been selected, the SJB sends a message to the instrument cluster to turn on the high beam indicator. If the high beam status message is missing for more than 5 seconds, the instrument cluster sets DTC U0140 and defaults the high beam indicator off.

NOTE:
- Navigators equipped with high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps do not illuminate the high beam indicator when in flash-to-pass mode.
- If DTC U0140 is set in the SJB, other symptoms may also be present such as tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), instrument panel backlighting, and door ajar indication.

Possible Causes
- SJB
- Instrument cluster
