Test F: The Steering Wheel Controls Are Inoperative

PINPOINT TEST F: THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS ARE INOPERATIVE

F6 Continued:

Normal Operation
Voltage is sent from the audio unit to the steering wheel controls through circuit 595 (LB/RD). When a switch is pressed, the voltage is routed through a specific resistor value for each function. The audio unit grounds this reference voltage through circuit 848 (DG/OG). The audio unit then uses this reference voltage to determine which control input function has been selected.

DTC B1117 - sets when a switch is detected as active for more than 3 seconds during the self-test, or for more than 120 seconds during normal operation.

DTC B1136 - sets when the reference voltage from the audio unit to the steering wheel controls is out-of-range due to a short to ground or open in the steering wheel control circuit.

DTC B2404 - sets when the reference voltage from the audio unit to the steering wheel controls is out-of-range due to a short to ground or open in the steering wheel control circuit.

Possible Causes
- Circuit 595 (LB/RD) open
- Circuit 848 (DG/OG) open or short to ground
- Steering wheel controls harness
- Steering wheel controls
- Clockspring
- Audio unit
