Test F: The Vehicle Security Module (VSM) Will Not Enter Training Mode

Normal Operation
For the vehicle security module (VSM) to enter tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) sensor training mode, it must receive valid inputs from the following:
^ Brake pedal position switch - OFF-ON-OFF
^ Ignition switch - both OFF and RUN
^ Vehicle speed sensor - 0 km/h (0 mph)

Refer to Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Sensor Training for the complete sensor training procedure.

The brake pedal position switch input is supplied by the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module along the high-speed communication area network (HS-CAN) bus to the powertrain control module (PCM), then to the instrument cluster along the HS-CAN bus and finally to the VSM along the universal asynchronous receiver transmitter (UART)-based protocol (UBP) communication network. The vehicle speed sensor input is supplied by the PCM to the instrument cluster along the HS-CAN bus, then from the instrument cluster to the VSM along the UBP network. The ignition switch input is provided directly to the VSM by the ignition switch through central junction box (CJB) fuse 18 (10A) along circuit 7 (LG/YE).

Possible Causes
^ Fuse
^ Circuit open
^ Ignition switch
^ Vehicle speed sensor
^ Brake pedal position switch
^ PCM
^ VSM
