Safety Belt Cleaning
SAFETY BELT CLEANINGWARNING: Do not bleach or re-dye the webbing, as the webbing may weaken.
NOTE: Some seat mounted safety belt retractors may exhibit a slow retraction speed condition. It is not necessary to replace the safety belt retractor for this condition.
All safety belts
1. Clean the safety belt webbing only with a mild soap solution recommended for cleaning upholstery or carpets. Follow the instructions provided with the soap.
Seat mounted front safety belt retractors only
2. Remove the headrest from the seat.
3. Remove the safety belt tower.
- Remove the 2 screw covers, 4 screws, safety belt tower and sock.
4. Slide the safety belt webbing aside and clean the webbing guide with a clean cloth.
- Remove any lint or other foreign material from the guide.
All seats
5. Reverse the procedure steps to re-assemble the seat.
- Make sure the safety belts and buckles are accessible to the occupants after installation.
- Make sure the safety belt retractor operates without excessive effort or binding.
- Check the active restraint system for correct operation.
