Rivet Removal
1. CAUTION: Do not drill outside the rivet into the frame because that will weaken the frame.
NOTE: Clean the area around the rivets only. Remove any contamination and wax from the rivets.
Drill a 1/8 inch pilot hole through the rivet.
2. Drill a 9/32 inch hole through the shank of the rivet.
3. Remove the rivet head using an air chisel.
4. Drive out the rivet with a punch.
5. If applicable, cut and grind off the welds connecting the support.
6. Remove the support.
Rivet Replacement
1. Position the support.
2. NOTE: Rivets that are removed will be replaced with new bolts of the next larger size.
Install new bolts, washers and nuts that are Property Class 9.8 metric (Grade 8).
