Front Disc BrakeThe brake caliper:
^ bolts to the brake caliper anchor plate, which bolts to the front wheel spindle.
^ is a dual piston, pin slider design.
^ has a fluid inlet at the center of the caliper housing.
The brake disc and bearing hub are the same part on rear wheel drive vehicles. To remove or install the front brake disc on rear wheel drive vehicles, refer to Front Suspension.
The brake disc:
^ is a ventilated full-cast design, with non-directional cooling fins.
^ is mounted to the wheel spindle.
^ is serviced with the brake caliper and brake caliper anchor plate removed as an assembly.
^ is part of the bearing hub on rear wheel drive vehicles.
The brake disc shield:
^ is bolted to the front wheel spindle.
^ protects the wheel bearings and inboard surface of the brake disc.
The brake pads:
^ are housed in the brake caliper anchor plate.
^ are of a non-asbestos, semi-metallic composition.
