Removal and Installation
All engines
1. Drain the cooling system.
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
3. Disconnect the upper radiator hose and the degas bottle hose.
4. Disconnect the lower radiator hose retainer from the cooling fan shroud.
5.4L engines
5. CAUTION: The large clutch assembly nut has a right-hand thread and must be rotated counterclockwise to remove it.
Using the special tool, remove the fan and fan clutch from the coolant pump pulley.
^ To install, tighten to 133 Nm (98 ft. lbs.).
6.8L engines
6. CAUTION: The large clutch assembly nut has a right-hand thread and must be rotated counterclockwise to remove it.
Using the special tool, remove the fan and fan clutch from the coolant pump pulley.
^ To install, tighten to 133 Nm (98 ft. lbs.).
All engines
7. Carefully position the fan and the fan clutch into the shroud.
8. Remove the 2 cooling fan shroud bolts, the shroud, fan and clutch.
^ To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
9. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
