Normal Operation
Under normal operation, the automatic temperature control (ATC) solenoid and manifold receives a ground from the electronic automatic temperature control (EATC) module through circuit 1106 (LG/WH). Depending on which solenoid is to be energized, the ATC solenoid and manifold receives power from the EATC module through circuits:
- 1107 (WH) for the air inlet door vacuum control motor.
- 1108 (TN/WH) for the panel/floor partial door vacuum control motor.
- 1109 (OG/BK) for the panel/floor full door vacuum control motor.
- 1110 (LG/VT) for the panel/defrost door vacuum control motor.
- 1111 (VT) for the heater control valve.
Engine vacuum is supplied to the ATC solenoid and manifold. When one of the solenoids is energized, vacuum is applied to the control motor or valve and the desired door or valve is either opened or closed.
Possible Causes
- An open, short to voltage, ground or together in circuits 1106 (LG/WH), 1107 (WH), 1108 (TN/WH), 1109 (OG/BK), 1110 (LG/VT) or 1111 (VT)
- ATC solenoid and manifold
- Electronic automatic temperature control (EATC) module
- Heater control valve
- Vacuum control motor
- Stuck or bound linkage or door
- Leaking or plugged vacuum hose
