Test S: The Wait to Start Indicator Is Never/Always on
PINPOINT TEST S: THE WAIT TO START INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ONS1-S5:
Normal Operation
The wait to start signal is transmitted to the instrument cluster over the communication network from the powertrain control module (PCM). The wait to start indicator illuminates when the key is in the ON position with the engine off (KOEO) indicating that the glow plugs are heating.
DTC B2658 - is a continuous and on-demand DTC that sets if the instrument cluster detects an internal open in the wait to start indicator lamp circuitry or bulb. This DTC can only be detected when the lamp is commanded on. Once the instrument cluster sets the fault, the instrument cluster sends a message to the PCM to command the MIL indicator on.
Possible Causes
- PCM
- Instrument cluster
