Normal Operation
The instrument cluster communicates with the scan tool through the high speed controller area network (HS-CAN) and communicates with other modules on the UBP communication network. Circuits 1908 (WH) (HS-CAN +) and 1909 (BK) (HS-CAN -) provide the HS-CAN network connection to the instrument cluster and circuit 693 (OG) provides the UBP network connection to the instrument cluster. The instrument cluster shares the HS-CAN network with the powertrain control module (PCM), the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module and the trailer brake control (TBC) module. In addition, the instrument cluster shares the UBP network with the vehicle security module and the electronic automatic temperature control (EATC). Voltage for the instrument cluster is provided by circuits 640 (RD/YE), 1002 (BK/PK) and 3049 (BK/LG). Circuits 57 (BK) and 676 (PK/OG) provide ground.
