Test H: The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) Transmitter Has Poor Range Performance

PINPOINT TEST H: THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER HAS POOR RANGE PERFORMANCE

Normal Operation
Remote locking and unlocking of the doors, and activating the panic alarm is accomplished by the vehicle security module (VSM) receiving a command message from the RKE transmitter through the tire pressure monitoring system/remote keyless entry (TPMS/RKE) internal antenna. The VSM processes the command and provides the appropriate output. The RKE transmitter has a maximum operating range of 10 m (33 ft).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Aftermarket systems
- High power devices
- RKE transmitter
- RKE transmitter battery
- TV/radio transmission towers
- VSM
