Test X: The Charging System Warning Indicator Is Never/Always On

PINPOINT TEST X: THE CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR IS NEVER/ALWAYS ON

Normal Operation
The charging system warning indicator is controlled by the instrument cluster (IC) based upon data received from the generator through circuit 904 (LG/RD) if equipped with a single generator or from the PCM if equipped with dual generators. The instrument cluster (IC) sets DTC B1318 if battery voltage drops to less than 9 volts DC ± 0.5 volt DC, when the ignition switch is in the START or RUN position.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Generator (single generator only)
- PCM (dual generators only)
- Instrument cluster (IC)
