Removal
WARNING: Never use wheels different than the original equipment. Additionally, never use wheel nuts different than the original equipment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the wheel or mounting system. This damage could cause the wheel to come off while the vehicle is being driven, which could result in serious personal injury or death to vehicle occupant(s).
1. If equipped, remove the wheel cover.
2. CAUTION: Do not use heat to loosen a seized wheel nut. Heat can damage the wheel and wheel bearings.
NOTE: Do not remove the wheel nuts at this time.
With the weight of the vehicle still on the tires, loosen the wheel nuts.
3. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
4. Remove the wheel nuts.
5. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
Installation
1. WARNING: When a wheel is installed, always remove any corrosion, dirt or foreign material present on the mounting surface of the wheel and the mounting surface of the wheel hub, brake drum or brake disc. Make sure that any fasteners that attach the rotor to the hub are secured so they do not interfere with the mounting surfaces of the wheel. Failure to follow these instructions when installing wheels may result in the wheel nuts loosening and the wheel coming off while the vehicle is in motion, which could result in loss of control, leading to serious injury or death to vehicle occupant(s).
Position the wheel and tire assembly.
2. NOTE: For cone-shaped 1-piece wheel nuts, make sure the cone ends of the wheel nut face inward.
Install the wheel nuts hand-tight.
3. Turn the wheel and tire assembly until one wheel nut is at the top of the wheel hub bolt circle.
^ Tighten the wheel nut until snug.
^ In a crisscross-type pattern, tighten the remaining wheel nuts until snug to minimize runout.
4. CAUTION: Failure to tighten the wheel nuts in the pattern shown can result in high rotor runout, which will speed up the development of brake roughness, shudder and vibration.
Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts in the sequence shown.
^ Tighten to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft).
5. If removed, install the wheel cover.
