ISSUE
Some 2008 E-Series vehicles may experience noise from the front brakes typically at low speeds, worse over bumps and goes away when the brakes are applied.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Confirm brake pad anti-rattle clips are loose or missing by inspecting the calipers. If the clips are not loose or missing, this procedure does not apply. Follow normal Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 100-04 Noise, Vibration and Harshness diagnostics.

2. If the clips are loose or missing refer to WSM, Section 206-03 for pad and clip removal and installation instructions.

3. When installing the clips and pads into the caliper following the WSM procedure be sure the anti-rattle clips are properly seated (snapped) into the caliper. (Figure 1)

NOTE
IF THE ANTI-RATTLE CLIPS ARE MISSING DAMAGED OR WILL NOT RETAIN, THEY CAN NOW BE ORDERED SEPARATELY AND NO LONGER REQUIRE THE COMPLETE PAD ASSEMBLY TO BE REPLACED.
