Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. NOTE: The output shaft and driveshaft are a balanced assembly.
Mark the driveshaft flange and the rear pinion flange for correct alignment during assembly.
3. Remove the 4 bolts.
4. Remove the driveshaft.
5. Disconnect the catalyst monitoring sensor harness connectors. Remove the harness bracket.
6. Remove the 2 nuts.
7. Install a suitable high lift transmission jack.
8. Raise the transmission to gain access to the insulator and retainer bolts, remove the bolts and the insulator and retainer.
9. Remove the extension housing and gasket.
1) Remove the bolts and nuts.
2) Remove the extension housing and gasket.
Installation
1. Install the extension housing and gasket.
1) Install the extension housing and gasket.
2) Install the bolts.
^ Tighten to 27 Nm (20 lb-ft).
2. Install the insulator and retainer and install the bolts.
^ Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
3. Lower the transmission onto the rear crossmember and tighten the insulator and retainer nuts.
^ Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
4. Connect the catalyst monitoring sensor harness connectors. Install the harness bracket.
5. NOTE: The output shaft and the driveshaft are a balanced assembly.
Install the driveshaft.
^ Align the index marks and position the driveshaft on the transmission.
^ Position the driveshaft to the rear differential.
6. NOTE: To maintain driveshaft balance, install the driveshaft yoke and flange in the original position that was marked during removal.
Install the 4 driveshaft bolts.
^ Tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).
