Removal
Vehicles equipped with a one-piece driveshaft
1. Remove the driveshaft.
Vehicles equipped with a two-piece driveshaft
2. Index mark the driveshaft flange and the driveshaft. Remove the 4 bolts.
3. Position aside the driveshaft and support with mechanic's wire.
Transmissions with a fixed flange
4. Remove the output shaft flange.
1. Remove and discard the output shaft flange bolt.
2. Remove the output shaft flange.
5. Using the Output Shaft Locknut Socket, remove and discard the output shaft retaining nut.
6. Using the Transmission Extension Housing Seal Remover along with the Torque Converter Fluid Seal Remover and Slide Hammer, remove the output shaft seal.
Transmissions without a fixed flange
7. Using the Transmission Extension Housing Seal Remover along with the Torque Converter Fluid Seal Remover and Slide Hammer, remove the extension housing seal.
Installation
Transmissions without a fixed flange
1. Using the Output Shaft Seal Installer, install the extension housing seal.
Transmissions with a fixed flange
2. Using the Transmission Extension Housing Seal Installer, install the output shaft seal.
3. Using the Output Shaft Locknut Socket, install a new output shaft retaining nut.
- Tighten to 200 Nm (148 lb-ft).
4. Install the output shaft flange and a new bolt.
- Tighten to 130 Nm (96 lb-ft).
Vehicles equipped with a one-piece driveshaft
5. Install the driveshaft.
Vehicles equipped with a two-piece driveshaft
6. Using the index marks, position the driveshaft. Install the 4 driveshaft bolts.
- Tighten to 103 Nm (76 lb-ft).
