Battery and Cables
4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L engine
A 72 ampere-hour, maintenance-free battery, mounted in the forward RH side of the engine compartment, is standard.
The battery system consists of the following components:
- Battery
- Battery cables
- Battery case
The dual frame-mounted battery option includes a remotely packaged frame-mounted 78 ampere-hour, maintenance-free battery. The auxiliary frame-mounted battery is located on the RH frame rail to the rear of the B-pillar. The auxiliary frame-mounted battery is used to supply the trailer circuits with power when the vehicle is not running. The auxiliary frame-mounted battery is connected in parallel with the battery. The auxiliary frame-mounted battery uses the same cable as the standard battery.
6.0L engine
Two 78 ampere-hour, maintenance-free batteries are mounted on the RH frame rail.
The diesel battery system consists of the following components:
- Dual batteries
- Battery cables
- Battery cases
Environmental Protection
Ford Motor Company strongly recommends that lead-acid batteries be returned to an authorized recycling facility for disposal.
