Removal and Installation









1. Turn the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

2. Remove the driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to Air Bag Systems.

3. If equipped, disconnect the steering wheel switches electrical connector and position it aside.

4. Remove and discard the steering wheel bolt.
- To install, tighten the new bolt to 38 Nm (28 lb-ft).

5. NOTICE: Removing the steering wheel without using a puller may damage the steering column bearings.

Using the Differential Bearing Remover, remove the steering wheel.

- Remove the steering wheel while routing the wires from the clockspring through the steering wheel.





6. NOTICE: Do not allow the clockspring to turn from its removal position or damage to the clockspring may occur.

Tape the clockspring center rotor to the outer housing to keep it from rotating.





7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
