Pinpoint Test B: A Single Power Window is Inoperative - LH
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 100, Power Windows for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number
Normal Operation
When the ignition key is placed in the RUN or ACCESSORY positions, the accessory delay relay provides voltage to the LH and RH window control switch through circuit CBP47 (GN/BU). Ground is provided to the LH window control switch through circuit GD133 (BK). When the LH window control switch is pressed, voltage is provided to the LH window motor through circuit CPW10 (YE/VT) and ground through CPW11 (BU/GY) to operate the LH window downward. When the LH window control switch is pulled, voltage is provided to the LH window motor through circuit CPW11 (BU/GY) and ground through CPW10 (YE/VT) to operate the LH window upward. The one-touch down feature electronics are integral to the LH window control switch.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- LH window control switch
- LH window motor
PINPOINT TEST B: A SINGLE POWER WINDOW IS INOPERATIVE - LH
-------------------------------------------------
B1 CHECK THE LH WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Disconnect: LH Window Control Switch C504.
- Ignition ON.
- Connect a fused jumper between LH window control switch C504-7, circuit CBP47 (GN/BU), harness side and LH window control switch C504-1, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side; and between LH window control switch C504-5, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side and LH window control switch C504-2, circuit GD133 (BK), harness side. The window should move downward.
- Connect a fused jumper between LH window control switch C504-7, circuit CBP47 (GN/BU), harness side and LH window control switch C504-5, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side; and between LH window control switch C504-1, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side and LH window control switch C504-2, circuit GD133 (BK), harness side. The window should move upward.
- Did the window open and close?
Yes
INSTALL a new LH window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch Service and Repair. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to B2.
-------------------------------------------------
B2 CHECK CIRCUITS CPW10 (YE/VT) AND CPW11 (BU/GY) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: LH Window Regulator Motor C524.
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the resistance between LH window control switch C504, harness side and LH window regulator motor C524, harness side using the following chart:
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms for both measurements?
Yes
INSTALL a new window regulator motor. REFER to Window Regulator Motor - Front Door Window Regulator Motor - Front Door. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
