Battery Cables - Gasoline









Removal and Installation

1. Remove the battery. For additional information, refer to Battery Battery.

2. Remove the bolt and position the battery ground cable eyelet aside.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).

3. Remove the nut and position the Battery Junction Box (BJB) terminals aside.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).

4. Disconnect the generator B+ terminal nut.
- To install, tighten to 17 Nm (150 lb-in).

5. Disconnect the starter solenoid wire in-line connector.

6. Disconnect the 2 harness locators from the frame and 3 harness locators on the engine.

7. Remove the nut and position the battery cable lower bracket aside.
- If equipped with 4.6L engine, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).

- If equipped with 5.4L or 6.8L engine, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).

8. Separate the transmission cooler line clip from the battery cable lower bracket.

9. Remove the starter solenoid terminal cover.

10. Remove the nut and position the starter solenoid positive cable aside.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).

11. Remove the nut and position the starter solenoid wire terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

12. Remove the nut and position the battery ground cable terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

13. Remove the battery cable assembly.

14. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
