Instrument Cluster and Panel Illumination
Instrument Cluster and Panel Illumination
Dimmable Illumination
The instrument cluster and panel illumination system consists of both dimmable and non-dimmable (fixed) illumination sources. The dimmable illumination is used to provide backlighting to the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC), switches and control components (such as the climate control assembly and the Audio Control Module (ACM)) when the parking lamps are on.
The level of intensity is adjustable by rotating the instrument panel dimmer switch to increase or decrease intensity.
NOTE: If the battery is disconnected or discharged, or the instrument panel dimmer switch is disconnected, the instrument panel dimmer switch requires calibration. Rotate the instrument panel dimmer switch from the lowest backlighting setting to the DOME LAMP position. This makes sure that all displays are visible under all lighting conditions.
The dimmable backlighting components are:
- ACM
- Headlamp switch
- Climate control assembly
- Traction control switch
- Trailer Brake Control (TBC) module
- Upfitter switches
- Speed control switches
Fixed Illumination
The fixed (non-dimmable) illumination is used to provide backlighting to switches when the key is in the ACC or RUN position.
The fixed backlighting components are:
- Door lock control switches
- Window control switches
