Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor
Removal
1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
2. Drain the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System &/or Engine Block Heater.
3. Remove the 6 pushpin retainers and the upper air deflector.
4. Remove the 4 power steering reservoir bracket bolts.
5. Remove the power steering fluid indicator and 3 bolts. Remove the power steering reservoir bracket. Install the power steering indicator and position aside.
6. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe.
7. NOTE: ACL side shown, engine side similar.
Loosen the clamps and remove the ACL outlet pipe.
8. NOTE: If there is any oil residue, clean both connecting ports and the inside surface of the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) tube to prevent the tube from blowing off.
Loosen the clamps and remove the CAC tube.
9. Disconnect the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) electrical connector.
10. Remove the ECT sensor and discard the O-ring seal.
Installation
1. NOTE: Apply clean engine oil to the new O-ring seal prior to installation.
Using a new O-ring seal, install the ECT sensor.
