Power Running Board (PRB)

Removal and Installation

Explorer only

1. Remove the Power Running Board (PRB) gap hider. For additional information, refer to Power Running Board (PRB) Gap Hider Power Running Board (PRB) Gap Hider.

Mountaineer only

2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.

3. NOTE: If the PRB cannot be extracted, extend the running board by hand.

Extend the PRB.

All vehicles

4. Remove the straps and disconnect the PRB motor electrical connector.





5. NOTE: An assistant is required to hold the PRB before removing the lower bolts.

Remove the front PRB lower 2 nuts and bolt.
- To install, tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).





6. Remove the rear PRB lower 2 nuts and bolt and remove the PRB assembly.
- To install, tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).





7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
