Pinpoint Tests - OSC Equipped Vehicle

Any time an electrical connector or solenoid body is disconnected, inspect the connector terminal condition, corrosion and contamination. Also inspect the connector seal for damage. Clean, repair or install a new component as required.

Pinpoint Test

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 29, Transmission Controls - 6R80 for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

PINPOINT TEST A: SYSTEM VOLTAGE LOW

NOTE: Refer to Transmission Vehicle Harness illustration within the Transmission Connector Layouts Transmission Connector Layouts procedure.

NOTE: Read and record all DTCs.

-------------------------------------------------
A1 CHECK FOR DTCs

- Connect the scan tool.
- Ignition ON.
- Check for DTC P0562.
- Is DTC P0562 set?

Yes
GO to A2.

No
REFER to Charging System.

-------------------------------------------------
A2 CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE

- Measure the voltage across the battery terminals. Record the measurement.

- Is the voltage greater than 10.5 volts?

Yes
GO to A3.

No
REFER to Charging System.

-------------------------------------------------
A3 CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM

- Start the engine.
- Bring the engine up to normal operating temperature and allow the engine to idle.
- Is the generator/check engine lamp off?

Yes
GO to A4.

No
REFER to Charging System.

-------------------------------------------------
A4 CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM

- Ignition ON.
- With the engine running, increase the engine speed to 2,000 rpm and observe the scan tool VPWR TCM PID.
- Is the system voltage between 13 volts and 15 volts?

Yes
GO to A5.

No
REFER to Charging System.

-------------------------------------------------
A5 CHECK CIRCUIT CE517 (BU/GN) FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Transmission C1575.
- Measure the voltage between transmission C1575-9, circuit CE517 (BU/GN), harness side and ground.

- Is the voltage greater than 10.5 volts?

Yes
REPLACE the mechatronic assembly. REFER to Mechatronic Assembly 6R80. PROGRAM the mechatronic assembly with the latest calibration. CLEAR all DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
REMOVE and INSPECT fuse 9 (2A). If the fuse is blown, REPAIR circuit CE517 (BU/GN) for a short to ground. If the fuse is good, REPAIR circuit CE517 (BU/GN) for an open. CLEAR the DTC. TEST the system for normal operation.
