Collision Avoidance and Parking Assist Systems: Description and Operation




Parking Aid

Explorer

The parking aid system consists of the following:

- Parking Aid Module (PAM) and radar sensor (the radar sensor is part of the PAM, located in the rear bumper)
- Parking aid speaker (located in the RH D-pillar area)
- Parking aid disable feature (integral to the Instrument Cluster (IC) message center)

The parking aid system utilizes radar technology only. The parking aid radar sensor is integral to the PAM and is located in the center of the rear bumper between the bumper isolator and the bumper cover. The parking aid speaker is located in the RH D-pillar area.

Mountaineer, Explorer Sport Trac

The parking aid system consists of the following:

- Parking aid sensors
- PAM and speaker assembly (located in the passenger lower D-pillar (Mountaineer) or behind the passenger rear seat (Explorer Sport Trac))
- Parking aid disable feature (integral to the IC message center)

The parking aid system utilizes ultrasonic technology only. The 4 parking aid ultrasonic sensors are located in the rear bumper cover.
