Body Retainer Cage Nuts




Body Retainer Cage Nuts

Front End Sheet Metal (FESM)

1. Remove the headlamp assembly.

2. Bend the tabs of the damaged cage nut retainer upward to access the cage nut.





3. Using a suitable tool, hold the cage nut and remove the Front End Sheet Metal (FESM) body mount bolt.
- Discard the FESM bolt.

4. NOTICE: Do not use a standard nut as a replacement for the nut being removed. Failure to use the correct part number for the nut may result in damage to the vehicle.

NOTE: If the cage nut is not damaged, it is not necessary to replace it with a new cage nut. The old cage nut may be used if the threads of the nut are not damaged.

NOTE: Remove the new cage nut from the cage and install the cage nut into the pre-existing cage.

Install the new cage nut into the location from which the damaged nut was removed.

5. Bend the tabs of the cage nut retainer back into position to secure the cage nut.

6. Install a new FESM body mount bolt.
- Tighten the new bolt to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).

7. Install the headlamp assembly.

Body mount No. 1 (all cabs)

8. Remove the front seat. For additional information, refer to Seats.

9. Remove the scuff plate trim panel.
- Pull upward to release the scuff plate trim panel clips from the body.

10. Peel the carpet back to gain access to the No. 1 body mount retainer cage nut location.

11. Mark the location of the body retainer cage nut.
- Measure 244.48 mm (9.625 in) from the body side-to-floor pan seam towards the inside of the vehicle.

- Measure 107.95 mm (4.25 in) from the cowl-to-floor pan seam towards the inside of the vehicle.





12. Using a 50 mm (1.968 in) hole saw, drill a hole into the floor pan.

13. Bend the tabs of the damaged cage nut upward to access the cage nut.

14. Using a suitable tool, hold the cage nut and remove the body mount bolt.
- Discard the body mount bolt.

15. NOTICE: Do not use a standard nut as a replacement for the nut being removed. Failure to use the correct part number for the nut may result in damage to the vehicle.

NOTE: If the cage nut is not damaged, it is not necessary to replace it with a new cage nut. The old cage nut may be used if the threads of the nut are not damaged.

NOTE: Make sure that the surface of the cage nut retainer is flat prior to installing the cage nut.

NOTE: Remove the new cage nut from the cage and install the cage nut into the pre-existing cage.

Install the new cage nut into the location from which the damaged nut was removed.

16. Install a new body mount bolt.
- Tighten the new bolt to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).

17. Install the new service plug (7C3Z-2500155-B).

18. Position the carpet into the correct orientation.

19. NOTICE: To avoid damage to the scuff plate trim panel, remove any retaining clips from the body and attach them to the scuff plate trim panel before installing.

Install the scuff plate trim panel.

Body mount No. 2 (SuperCab and SuperCrew only)

20. Remove the scuff plate trim panel.
- Pull upward to release the scuff plate trim panel clips from the body.

21. Remove the front seat. For additional information, refer to Seats.

22. Remove the console. For additional information, refer to Instrument Cluster / Carrier &/or Interior Moulding / Trim.

23. NOTE: The No. 2 body mounts are located directly under the locations shown.

Peel the carpet back to gain access to the body mount No. 2 location.





24. Using a 50 mm (1.968 in) hole saw, drill a hole through the floor pan to gain access to the body mount No. 2 cage nut.

25. Bend the tabs of the damaged cage nut upward to access the cage nut.

26. Using a suitable tool, hold the cage nut and remove the body mount bolt.
- Discard the body mount bolt.

27. NOTICE: Do not use a standard nut as a replacement for the nut being removed. Failure to use the correct part number for the nut may result in damage to the vehicle.

NOTE: If the cage nut is not damaged, it is not necessary to replace it with a new cage nut. The old cage nut may be used if the threads of the nut are not damaged.

NOTE: Make sure that the surface of the cage nut retainer is flat prior to installing the cage nut.

NOTE: Remove the new cage nut from the cage and install the cage nut into the pre-existing cage.

Install the new cage nut into the location from which the damaged nut was removed.

28. Install a new body mount bolt.
- Tighten the new bolt to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).

29. Install the new service plug (7C3Z-2500155-B).

30. Position the carpet into the correct orientation.

31. NOTICE: To avoid damage to the scuff plate trim panel, remove any retaining clips from the body and attach them to the scuff plate trim panel before installing.

Install the scuff plate trim panel.

Body mount No. 3 (regular cab)

32. Remove the scuff plate trim panel.
- Pull upward to release the scuff plate trim panel clips from the body.

33. Peel back the carpet to gain access to the body retainer cage nut location.

34. Mark the location of the body retainer cage nut.
- Measure 184.15 mm (7.25 in) from the body side-to-floor pan seam towards the interior of the vehicle.

- Measure 82.55 mm (3.25 in) from the body rear end-to-floor pan seam towards the interior of the vehicle.





35. Using a 50 mm (1.968 in) hole saw, drill a hole in the marked location.

36. Bend the tabs of the damaged cage nut upward to access the cage nut.

37. Using a suitable tool, hold the cage nut and remove the body mount bolt.
- Discard the body mount bolt.

38. NOTICE: Do not use a standard nut as a replacement for the nut being removed. Failure to use the correct part number for the nut may result in damage to the vehicle.

NOTE: If the cage nut is not damaged, it is not necessary to replace it with a new cage nut. The old cage nut may be used if the threads of the nut are not damaged.

39. Install a new body mount bolt.
- Tighten the new bolt to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).

40. Install the new service plug (7C3Z-2500155-B).

41. Position the carpet into the correct orientation.

42. NOTICE: To avoid damage to the scuff plate trim panel, remove any retaining clips from the body and attach them to the scuff plate trim panel before installing.

Install the scuff plate trim panel.

Body mount No. 3 (SuperCab and SuperCrew)

43. Remove the scuff plate trim panel.
- Pull upward to release the scuff plate trim panel clips from the body.

44. Remove the rear seat. For additional information, refer to Seats.

45. Mark the location for the access hole.
- Measure 45 mm (1.77 in) from the center of the rear seat stud toward the interior of the vehicle.





46. Using a 50 mm (1.968 in) hole saw, drill a hole in the marked location.

47. Looking in the access hole toward the exterior wall of the vehicle, bend the tabs of the damaged cage nut upward to access the cage nut.





48. Using a suitable tool, hold the cage nut and remove the body mount bolt.
- Discard the body mount bolt.

49. NOTICE: Do not use a standard nut as a replacement for the nut being removed. Failure to use the correct part number for the nut may result in damage to the vehicle.

NOTE: If the cage nut is not damaged, it is not necessary to replace it with a new cage nut. The old cage nut may be used if the threads of the nut are not damaged.

50. Install a new body mount bolt.
- Tighten the new bolt to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).

51. Install the new service plug (7C3Z-2500155-B).

52. Position the carpet into the correct orientation.

53. Install the rear seat. For additional information, refer to Seats.

54. NOTICE: To avoid damage to the scuff plate trim panel, remove any retaining clips from the body and attach them to the scuff plate trim panel before installing.

Install the scuff plate trim panel.
