Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair




Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor - 4.6L (2V), 4.6L (3V), 5.4L (3V)

















Removal and Installation

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.

2. Rotate the accessory drive belt clockwise and detach the accessory drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley.





3. Loosen the A/C compressor bolts enough to slide the A/C compressor down approximately 25 mm (1 in), to allow access to the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

4. Disconnect the CKP sensor electrical connector.

5. Remove the bolt and the CKP sensor.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Lubricate the O-ring seal with clean engine oil prior to installation.

7. Using the scan tool, perform the Misfire Monitor Neutral Profile Correction procedure, following the on-screen instructions.
