Exterior Mirrors

Rear View Mirrors

Exterior Mirrors

The vehicle may be equipped with either aero exterior mirrors or trailer tow exterior mirrors.

Aero Rear View Mirrors

The main components of the aero exterior mirrors are:

- Manually adjusted exterior mirror glass
- Exterior mirror plastic housing

Trailer Tow Rear View Mirrors

The main components of the trailer tow exterior mirrors are:

- Exterior mirror control switch
- Exterior mirror glass
- Exterior spotter mirror glass
- Exterior mirror plastic housing
- Exterior mirror glass adjustment motors (optional - power mirrors only)
- Exterior mirror cover (optional - chrome or painted)
- Exterior mirror head power folding motor (optional and not replaceable - power folding mirrors only)
- Exterior mirror head power telescoping motor (optional and not replaceable - power telescoping mirrors only)
- Driver Seat Module (DSM) (memory exterior mirrors - optional)

Heated Exterior Mirrors

The power exterior mirrors are available with a heated mirror glass and a heated spotter mirror glass feature, which heats the mirror glass to remove frost, snow, ice and condensation. The heated exterior mirror switch controls the operation of the LH and RH heated exterior mirror glass. The heated exterior mirror switch is located on the HVAC module. The heated exterior mirrors are heated for a period of 10 minutes when the engine is running and the heated exterior mirror switch is pressed to the ON position.

Power Folding Mirrors

The power folding mirror feature allows both power exterior mirrors to be folded or unfolded. Power folding mirrors can be identified by the words FOLD/UNFOLD on the exterior rear view mirror control switch. When the exterior mirror control switch is set to the center position and pressed rearward to the FOLD/UNFOLD position, the LH and RH exterior mirrors will fold inward towards the door if they are folded out, or unfold outward if they are folded in. The RH and LH power folding mirrors will fold and unfold simultaneously and cannot be controlled independently. If the power folding mirrors are folded or unfolded continuously for 6 to 10 cycles, the power lockout feature will disable the system for approximately 3-1/2 minutes to prevent damage to the power fold motors. After 3-1/2 minutes has elapsed, normal operation will resume.

Power Telescoping Mirrors

The telescoping mirror control switch, which is located on the LH door trim panel, allows the power telescoping mirrors to be extended or retracted. The power telescoping mirror option allows the LH and RH exterior mirrors to be extended or retracted using the telescoping exterior mirror control switch. When the telescoping exterior mirror control switch is pressed to the outward position, the exterior mirrors will extend. When the telescoping exterior mirror control switch is pressed to the inward position, the exterior mirrors will retract. The RH and LH power telescoping mirrors can be adjusted inward or outward to a desired position by momentarily pressing and releasing the telescoping exterior mirror control switch. The RH and LH power telescoping mirrors will extend and retract simultaneously and cannot be controlled independently.

Memory Exterior Mirrors

The memory mirror function recalls the preferred positioning of the LH and RH exterior mirror glass. The Driver Seat Module (DSM) monitors the exterior mirror control switch and controls the movement of the RH and LH exterior mirror motors. The memory mirror function is activated by the door mounted switches or the Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter. When a memory position is recalled by the operator, the LH and RH exterior mirror glass will automatically adjust to the preferred position that is stored in memory. The DSM is capable of setting a DTC for the memory mirror system when a system concern exists.

For information on the DSM and memory position programming, refer to Seats.
