Ignition Lock Cylinder - Non Functional
Removal and Installation
1. Remove the steering wheel. For additional information, refer to Steering Column.
2. Remove the 3 screws and the lower steering column shroud.
3. Remove the ignition lock cylinder.
- Use an 1/8-inch diameter drill bit to drill out the lock cylinder retaining pin.
- Use a 3/8-inch diameter drill bit to drill down the middle of the ignition lock cylinder key slot until the ignition lock cylinder breaks loose.
- Remove and discard the ignition lock cylinder and drill shavings from the steering column.
4. NOTICE: Carefully note the position of the steering column lock gear, bearing and retainer prior to removal.
Remove the bearing retainer.
5. Remove the bearing and the gear.
- Thoroughly clean all drill shavings from the steering column and inspect it for damage.
6. NOTE: Use a new ignition lock cylinder.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Verify ignition lock cylinder operation.
